Welcome to DeWitt, the “Crossroads to Opportunity”, and a progressive, friendly community. The second largest community in Clinton County, DeWitt is a great place to live, work and play.
DeWitt is a community high in amenities, including a state-of-the art hospital and attached nursing home, physicians to fit the needs of optometry, dentists, chiropractic care, physical therapy, podiatry, specialty services and family practice centers. The Central Community School System, which includes the communities of DeWitt, Grand Mound, Low Moor and Welton, is home of the Central Sabers and boasts a 98.3 percent graduation rate, with most students continuing higher education at local community colleges or universities. DeWitt takes care of our community from the very young with two licensed childcare/preschool centers and many in-home childcare facilities, to our elderly with several elderly housing units, an assisted living facility and our nursing home, Westwing Place.
Quality of life is a strong point of DeWitt. Main Street is host to the historical museum, financial institutions and many locally owned businesses providing everything from prescriptions to gift baskets to clothing and of course many specialty shops. The DeWitt Park and Recreation operates our high-quality Aquatic Center featuring a zero-depth wading pool, two slides and a drop slide, as well as the DeWitt Fitness Center equipped with an indoor pool, weight equipment, a jogging track, several racquetball courts and a variety of adult and youth classes. Several parks adorn our community including Lincoln Park, Paarmann Park and Westbrook Park with an extensive walking/bike trail. The city hall, post office, community center, library, police station, fire department and family owned grocery stores are all centrally located near the Main Street. Restaurants include those with national affiliations to the locally owned with food for every taste bud from steaks to sub sandwiches.
Entertainment is endless with bowling lanes, year-around family sports, golf course, theater, swimming and tennis courts available in DeWitt. Semi-pro sports, live concerts, casino boats and live theatre are all within a 20-minute drive.
