Healthcare

DeWitt offers a number of options for the region’s healthcare needs, including family health clinics, a full-service hospital, physical therapy, occupational therapy, dental clinics, vision clinics, pharmacy, podiatry, massage and healing touch services and assisted living facilities.

The DeWitt Family Health Clinic is a part of the Medical Associates system, with its main campus in Clinton. Located at 1021 11th Street, the 12,300-square-foot clinic offers a state-of-the-art, patient-friendly outpatient facility with physician offices, laboratory, x-ray and pharmacy. Their Board Certified providers can take care of the entire family’s routine healthcare needs, from pediatrics to geriatrics.

Genesis Medical Center, DeWitt, a 13-bed hospital with a staff of nearly 200, has served DeWitt and the surrounding communities since 1952.

A 1997 affiliation with Genesis Health System and a $7 million building project in 2000 have positioned the hospital to exist far into the future, bringing experienced staff and advanced technology that is far ahead of most rural hospitals.

As testament to that progress, Genesis, DeWitt has twice earned recognition as a “25 Most Wired Rural Hospital” for use of information technology in providing safe and quality care. In 2006, the hospital was presented the “Summit Award,” the healthcare satisfaction industry’s most coveted symbol of achievement.

The hospital’s Ambulance Department, with three ambulances, covers emergencies and transfers for the cities of DeWitt, Low Moor, Grand Mound, Welton and Charlotte. Genesis, DeWitt, also provides “same day” or “ambulatory” surgery services, where most patients go home the same day.

The hospital includes a 2,500-square-foot rehabilitation clinic that offers physical, occupational and speech therapy. The DeWitt clinic also houses the office of Genesis Power Sports Performance, where athletes can improve their speed, agility, power and strength and conditioning through a structured, progressive program.

Adjacent to the hospital is Westwing Place, a 77-bed, long-term care facility certified as an Eden Alternative Facility. U.S. News & World Report ranked Westwing as one of the best nursing homes in the nation. It’s also one of the highest-ranked senior care facilities in Iowa, according to rankings of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
