Springbrook Country Club and golf course, dating back to the early 1900’s, is another lovely place to visit. Springbrook is one of the most beautiful and challenging golf courses in Iowa, known for its rolling hills, tree-lined fairways and tricky greens. Recently this private club expanded from a nine-hole course to an 18-hole course, stretching out across the northern portion of the city. The picturesque clubhouse overlooks the entire course and has a bar and grill as well as a formal restaurant with meeting and banquet facilities. Golf and social memberships are offered.
Westbrook Park, located along Silver Creek at the west edge of DeWitt is an outstanding 98-acre facility with picnic shelters, lighted ball diamonds, concessions, playground, an extensive network of nature trails, and cross-country skiing. Ashindel Park, adjacent to the DeWitt Fitness Center, consists of a fitness trail, bike path, regulation outdoor basketball court and ball diamonds. Lincoln Park located in downtown DeWitt, features playground and picnic areas, a gazebo and an inviting expanse of grass and trees. During the summer you can bring your lawn chairs to the park and listen as the DeWitt Community Band plays for your listening pleasure.
The DeWitt Community Center serves as the headquarters for senior citizen activities. It is also utilized by many other community organizations and is conveniently located in Lincoln Park.
Public access tennis courts are located at Central Community High School. An inviting aspect of DeWitt’s rural location is the quiet country roads making up a network of biking and jogging trails. The smooth surfaces and mild inclines stretch for miles. The Wapsipinicon River, five miles south of DeWitt, is known for canoeing and fishing. Bass, catfish, and walleye are the primary game fish in our areas. Several streams to the north are stocked with trout. The Mississippi River is only 18 miles away with many opportunities for water skiing, boating, fishing, riverboat rides, dinner cruises and riverboat gambling. DeWitt is located in one of the best hunting areas in the United States.
