Fort Dodge is located in the heart of Webster County, with convenient highway access via Interstates 35 and 80. Rail service is provided by Northern Pacific, and the Fort Dodge Regional Airport offers scheduled flights to and from Minneapolis/ St. Paul International Airport.

There are several modes of public transportation in Webster County, the largest of which is the DART bus system which operates seven fixed routes in the city of Fort Dodge. DART is a Jefferson Lines agent, and passengers may connect to any city or location in the continental U.S. and parts of Canada served by regularly scheduled inter-city bus lines such as Greyhound, Trailways or Jefferson Lines.
