Spring Lake Golf Course is a Fort Madison treasure tucked away on the bluff of the city. The Mississippi River provides Fort Madison boatloads of fun.
Captain Kirk’s Marina welcomes boaters of all shapes and sizes to enjoy their hospitality. Convenient loading ramps, overnight docking facilities, parking, fuel and a popular bar and grill are only a few reasons to stop and enjoy the beautiful vignettes of the river. Lake Cooper (Iowa’s largest lake) covers 30,000 acres, and is known for excellent fishing. This area of the Mississippi River attracts anglers of all ages to its banks.
The recently renovated and expanded local YMCA offers year-round indoor swimming and facilities to meet your fitness needs. Further opportunities for swimming can be found at the Fort Madison Municipal Swimming Pool, located adjacent to the Fort Madison Senior High School.
Old Settlers Park has gone through a recent rejuvenation with re-created historic benches and lighting that match the Victorian homes surrounding the park. Central Park is a gathering place for residents and visitors to enjoy the water fountain, Sunday City Band concerts in the gazebo and the summer Farmer’s Markets.
Ivanhoe Park and Victory Field have hosted several generations of young baseball and softball players. Our largest park is Rodeo Park, covering 183 acres on the bluff. Not only does it offer trails, picnic spots and grounds for Frisbee golf, it is also the site of the annual Tri-State Rodeo (held the first weekend in September).
