Visitors and residents have access to local celebrations, concerts, festivals, parades, special events, tours and many more events in our Midwestern city. An extensive renovation brought new life to the original Burlington Northern Depot as the Fort Madison Art Center. The Art Center rotates monthly exhibits that range from local amateur artists to nationally acclaimed artists. A consignment gallery also offers works for sale, and educational programs for youth and adults are provided throughout the year. The recently constructed Aerodome Park is also home to public sculptures.
The Museum Historic Center showcases historical structures that once were passenger and freight buildings. The museum complex shares the history of the railroad, firefighting lore, Sheaffer Pen Company history, pioneering days and the Flood of ‘93’s effect on our area. Theatrical performances by the Old Fort Players and nationally known acts at the Fox Theater bring both laughter and tears to their audiences. A whole cast of neighbors are committed to bringing quality theatrical pieces to life right here for your entertainment.
