Recreation

Grinnell’s gorgeous expanse of prairie land is perfect for outdoor adventure. Eight parks, three lakes, and nearby state parks make it easy to enjoy the outdoors.

The Grinnell Recreation Department schedules year-round activities for all age groups. Programs include the Grinnell Soccer Club, the Tiger Sharks Swim Team, American Red Cross swimming lessons, and an array of other athletic activities. The Recreation Department also manages the rental of park shelter and indoor facilities.

Golf enthusiasts can select from two courses. Oakland Acres Golf Course is an 18-hole public course that offers a Pro Shop, driving range, and adult leagues. The Grinnell Country Club has a 9-hole private course as well as a Pro Shop and additional amenities. It also features the beautiful Manhattan lounge and dining room.

Rock Creek State Park is just 15 minutes northwest of Grinnell in Kellogg. The park offers 602-acres with beaches, boating, camping, trails, and RV hookups among the attractions.
