Let me share with you the reasons why I chose to relocate to Grinnell, and what I found once I arrived in the coolest small town in America—“The Jewel of the Prairie!”
I love good food. Grinnell is truly a Dining Destination. The number of fabulous restaurants with wonderful food and great service is uniquely Grinnell. No other town of its size boasts so many incredible dining choices—plus delightful gift shops, coffee bars, galleries, big box stores, and even a store that will teach you how to make your own fabulous quilt!
My family likes to be active. Biking/hiking trails, parks, yoga, wellness clinics, fitness centers, Second Saturday Trail Events, the Grinnell College Pool, and the City’s Park and Rec programs make Grinnell a haven for fitness enthusiasts and casual healthy living.
Diversity is important to me. The city has a decidedly cosmopolitan feel compared to other communities of its size. Grinnell College draws 1,600 of the brightest students and some of the most brilliant faculty from all around the globe to this small city, adding a very wonderful curiosity, depth, and optimism to the community’s culture.
I love events and festivals and art and fun things to do. This community comes alive with many events and festivals throughout the year that draw thousands of residents and visitors. From Kites Over Grinnell, Happy Days, Bad Art Days, the Grinnell Scottish Arts Festival, Concerts and Art in the Park, and the Farmers Market, to Jingle Bell Holiday, the 4th of July festivities, and live Theater at the Voertman, Grinnell is always finding reasons to celebrate and create fun!
I’m excited about the future. Grinnell is one community on the move—a new library, a new hands-on Art Factory, a new outdoor aquatic center, and THE new Iowa Transportation Museum are all coming very soon. Our overnight accommodations already include over 300 rooms and five indoor swimming pools!
So come to Grinnell and see what I see. Stay for the weekend or relocate for a lifetime. The “Jewel of the Prairie” will welcome, entertain, enlighten, and most definitely delight you!
