Ideally located on Interstate 35, Mason City and Clear Lake are midway between Des Moines and Minneapolis. Mason City is bordered to the south by the Avenue of the Saints (US 18/IA 27), which links St. Paul to St. Louis.

In addition, Mason City is centrally-located in the Midwest, within easy driving distance to major markets such as Chicago, St. Louis, Kansas City and Minneapolis. The “North Iowa Corridor” is the hub of our centrally located transportation network. Interstate 35 splits the region, the four-lane divided Avenue of the Saints (US 18/IA 27) borders Mason City to the south and Interstates 80 and 90 are both close by.
We are served by two Class I railroads, Union Pacific and Canadian Pacific (DM&E), one short-line railroad (Iowa Traction) and the Manly Terminal rail intermodal.
The Mason City commercial airport offers four roundtrip flights daily to Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) and three roundtrip flights on the weekend.
