Music lovers will take pleasure in the beautiful sounds of the Southeast Iowa Symphony Orchestra, a regional orchestral company based at Iowa Wesleyan College in Mount Pleasant. SEISO affords a subscription series and performs a calendar year of events, including annual school tours, pop concerts and summer concerts. Youth competitions and string festivals are also part of SEISO’s quality programming.

The Mount Pleasant Public Library satisfies literary needs through a collection of more than 52,000 materials, including print, large print, DVDs, recorded books, music CDs and more. Housed in the newly renovated Library and Community Center, the library offers 19,000 square feet of learning space, complete with state-of-the-art technology, work rooms, free public-use computers and wireless Internet access, and children’s and genealogy research areas. Summer reading programs for children, a story hour for preschoolers, book talks for youth and adults and a range of further programming are all supplied through the library.
