Excellence in Healthcare
Over the last eight decades Washington’s health services have offered a wide variety of healthcare options, including a hospital with several specialty clinics, fifteen full time doctors, family dentistry, a physician’s assistant, eye care, chiropractic care, physical and massage therapy, audiology and mental health.
“Excellence in healthcare, close to home,” is Washington County Hospital and Clinics (WCHC) motto that is taken to heart. In the year 2005, the Board of Trustees approved plans for a new hospital project. Goals are to enhance patient care and modernize the facility. In addition, this will help WCHC to not only retain its qualified staff, but will greatly enhance the recruitment of new staff and physicians to Washington. Newer portions of the current facility and physician clinics, McCreedy Home, and some support areas will remain with renovations to improve and bring all areas together.
Surgical facilities are designed to assist your surgeon and staff in providing quality care. WCHC’s surgeons and surgical staff provide the following procedures: general surgery, orthopedics, eye, podiatry, gastroenterology, gynecology and others. By utilizing the latest surgical techniques and technology, surgical staff remains on the cutting edge of the most advanced surgeries, including laparoscopic surgery. Same-day surgery offers the convenience of home recovery combined with the highest level of care.
The emergency department provides physicians and staff service 24 hours a day, every day. The emergency room has access to specialized services through the use of a helicopter, which lands on thehospital campus.
Physician specialists are available to supplement WCHC medical staff through the Specialty Clinics. Specialists are available in the areas of cardiology, gastroenterology, ENT, neurology, podiatry, urology and orthopedics.
Using the latest therapy techniques, the Rehabilitation Department is staffed with licensed physical, occupational and speech therapists who treat outpatients as well as inpatients. WCHC offers Phase I and II cardiac rehabilitation with diagnostic testing, individualized rehabilitation sessions and exercise programs as well as discussions of lifestyle changes, medications, medical care plans and even financial concerns.
The Family Birthing Center staff strives to make the birth of your child memorable and comfortable. The department features three labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum rooms which do not require the mother to switch rooms. Classes are offered to expectant parents on topics such as labor preparation and breastfeeding.
