Diversity best describes agri-business in Cowley County. Cowley County is one of the top producers in the state. Primary crops include wheat, soybeans, corn, grain sorghum, alfalfa, cotton, and grass hay. Pasture and rangeland also abound with livestock enterprises including beef and dairy cattle, sheep and hogs.

The county is home to two flour mills, which process and add value to the locally grown wheat. Future Beef Operations chose Cowley County as the site of its new meat processing facility in 2001, utilizing "state of the art" technology from around the world and investing over $97 million in the new facility. Additional value-added industries include a cotton gin, livestock feed manufacturing, and wheat seed production. Use of agricultural land for recreational purposes such as hunting and fishing has emerged as another growing enterprise.
