The smaller towns and communities of the parish have plenty to offer as well. North of Crowley you will find the quaint town of Iota. As early as 1858, Iota was known for its rich mineral springs, Point-Aux-Loups, where an early health spa complete with bath houses and retreats served the people of the area. Point-Aux-Loups, an Indian name meaning Wolf Point, is one of the oldest places named in Acadia Parish. You’ll also want to experience the rural Mardi Gras celebration, Tee Mamou-Iota Mardi-Gras Folklife Festival. Fat Tuesday celebrations, which note the start of the Catholic season of Lent, can be found throughout the area.
