

Despite the economic challenges Ascension Parish may face in 2009, the Ascension Chamber will continue to embrace its mission statement – to facilitate and foster economic growth for its members. Consequently, I believe the challenges we are facing create a great opportunity for the Chamber to provide guidance and leadership through these tough times. In addition, it is my hope that our members will recognize that out of challenging times, come business opportunities!
With an enthusiastic CEO and a dedicated Board of Directors, I don’t foresee a “recession” in this great Ascension Chamber. We incorporated into January’s board meeting our annual strategic planning meeting, which was facilitated by Brent Henley with The Pyramid Group. We took an inventory of our progress from 2008 and established a path forward for our goals and initiatives for 2009. Our team works hard to ensure that a customer-service attitude permeates all we do in support of our strategic goals. These efforts – in conjunction with four main Chamber committees (Membership, Finance & Operations, Leadership Ascension, and Government & Community Development) – work toward the goal of improving Ascension’s business climate and strengthening the Parish’s economy.
It is my honor and privilege to serve as the 2009 Chairman for the Ascension Chamber. As your Chairman this year, even through these challenging economic times, I look to energize and challenge our board to better serve you, our members. We encourage your continued involvement, as we work together to make a difference and create a better future for our members, the Ascension Chamber and Ascension Parish.
