Welcome to the City of Gonzales and to Ascension Parish. Gonzales is located between Baton Rouge and New Orleans in a corridor possessing much history and aesthetic beauty.

Gonzales offers excellent recreational, social, artistic and religious programs, and is home to several professional and recreational associations. We are sure to have something that will meet your needs.

Gonzales is currently experiencing strong growth as an up-and-coming city. We are one of the fastest growing communities in the state of Louisiana and have become a major economic factor in the Greater Baton Rouge Capital Region. Our government has shown a strong commitment to economic growth, while capitalizing on that growth to provide a better quality of life to our citizens and visitors.

Gonzales is known as the “Jambalaya Capital of the World.” Jambalaya is a mixture of different meats, spices and rice, and is an old recipe from our forefathers that is enjoyed by our local residents, as well as our visitors. We believe this main dish provides a perfect metaphor for the mixture of community opportunities our city has to offer.
