Economic Development—Experience the Ascension Advantage! The Ascension Economic Development Corporation (AEDC) is a nonprofit corporation responsible for economic development for the parish of Ascension, the fastest-growing parish in the Baton Rouge MSA and one of the fastest- growing parishes in the state of Louisiana. The corporation in 2005 was formed to spearhead economic development for Ascension Parish.
The AEDC is a public-private partnership funded by the parish of Ascension and the business community of Ascension Parish. The AEDC board consists of seven members appointed by the Parish President, Parish Council and the Ascension Chamber of Commerce. Two members of the Parish Council serve ex-officio on the AEDC Board.
The Ascension Economic Development Foundation is the charitable 501(c)(3) foundation that is responsible for the diversification of the Ascension Parish economy by funding targeted economic development projects led by the Ascension Economic Development Corporation. The foundation is comprised of a majority of the same board members of the AEDC.
AEDC, with funds from the foundation, is currently developing and constantly refining a five-year economic development plan for the parish called the “Ascension Advantage” Plan to diversify and strengthen the economy of Ascension Parish.
