Ascension Economic Development Corp.
Founded in 2005, the Ascension Economic Development Corporation (AEDC) is a nonprofit organization responsible for the economic development of Ascension Parish. Ascension is the fastest growing parish in the State of Louisiana and within the top 75 fastest growing parishes or counties in the nation.
The AEDC is a public-private partnership funded by the Parish of Ascension and the business community of Ascension Parish. The AEDC Board consists of seven members appointed by the Parish President, Parish Council and the Ascension Chamber of Commerce. Two members of the Parish Council serve ex-officio on the AEDC Board.
The Ascension Economic Development Foundation is the charitable 501c3 foundation that is responsible for the diversification of the Ascension Parish economy by funding targeted economic development projects led by the Ascension Economic Development Corporation. The foundation is comprised of a majority of the same board members of the AEDC.
AEDC, with funds from its foundation, is currently developing and constantly refining its “Ascension Advantage” Plan to diversify and strengthen the economy of the parish.
