Industry in Ascension
The predominating industry in Ascension Parish is the chemical industry. More than 25 specialty chemical and petrochemical companies are clustered along the Mississippi River, offering the parish an abundance of excellent jobs and creating a reciprocal situation where companies take advantage of each other’s products to produce their own. Many of these facilities are the “flagship” plants of their respective organizations. In addition, these facilities are supported by local product and service suppliers, creating an economic spin-off effect that benefits all citizens of Ascension Parish.
