Note from the Chairman

It was with great pleasure that I accepted the 2011 Ascension Chamber Chairmanship. When I was approached and asked to serve, it didn’t take long to make a decision. I am a graduate of the 2007 Leadership Ascension Class and have been a Board Member for the past three years. I have served on the Board under former Chairpersons John Cagnolatti, Rae Milano and Glenda Shaheen. It was an honor and a privilege serving with each of these leaders. I have learned a lot from them and hope to continue their great work. The Chamber staff, under the direction of President/CEO Sherrie Despino, has done a wonderful job and played a major role in helping me make my decision.

I have been a business owner for the past 25 years and I understand and face the same challenges our members do. Ascension Parish is still growing at an unbelievable rate and that creates many problems; however, it also brings with it many opportunities, which is very encouraging. I will always keep the Chamber’s mission to facilitate and foster economic growth for its members in the forefront of my duties.

Let me take this opportunity to solicit your support and participation in the Ascension Chamber of Commerce. Remember, it is our Chamber and it is only as good as its members make it. We have an outstanding business community with tremendous talent. 2011 was a great year for the Ascension Chamber of Commerce and I look forward to continuing to support the Chamber as a Board Member in 2012.
