University of Louisiana at Lafayette Athletics
The university participates in NCAA Division I football; baseball; softball; women’s soccer and volleyball; and men’s and women’s basketball, tennis, track and field, and cross country. Club and intramural sports such as the past national champion Water ski team, are also offered. These nationally recognized programs continue to grow and succeed each year.
There are also several Ragin’ Cajun professional athletes in many different sports arenas such as Jake Delhomme, Super Bowl and Pro Bowl quarterback for the Carolina Panthers; Brandon Stokley, wide receiver for the Denver Broncos; B.J. Ryan, pitcher for the Toronto Blue Jays; Ron Guidry, American League Cy Young Award-winning retired pitcher for the New York Yankees; Craig Perks, PGA golfer; Ike Taylor cornerback for the Pittsburgh Steelers; and Charles Tillman, cornerback for the Chicago Bears.
