Sports & Recreation
Southwest Louisiana has played host to close to 100 different sporting events at its 90 baseball fields, 50 basketball courts, 25 football fields, eight 18-hole golf courses, 45 soccer fields and close to 50 softball fields. With top-notch swim and wrestling facilities, tennis and volleyball courts, rodeo arenas and track & field stadiums, there is a vast variety of choices. The area has hosted the Team USA Olympic softball team on its Bound for Beijing Tour, as well as the National Pro Fastpitch Championship and multiple tournaments from the United States Specialty Sports Association and Louisiana High School Athletic Association. For leisure fun, the Sulphur Parks Recreation and Aquatic Center offers a gamut of activities with swimming, a water park during summer months, racquetball, workout facilities and more. Pint-sized fun can be had at Prien Lake Park, Sam Houston Jones State Park and other parish and city parks.
