The great thing about shopping in Louisiana is that the culture is unique, and specialty items are fun to bring back home to friends and family. Or, if you live here, you can ship items elsewhere. From spices and artistic pieces to food products like boudin and King Cake, the supply can meet the demand. The Cottage Shops in mid-town Lake Charles and the Charlestown District, comprised of the Charpentier Historic District and the Downtown Development District, are both Cultural Districts as certified by the state, where you can buy original art without paying sales tax! The Prien Lake Mall is the largest shopping center in Southwest Louisiana, and there are antique shops, boutique shops, as well as specialty shops sprinkled throughout the region. Surrounding communities are also proud to offer numerous stores and shopping destinations like the Factory Stores of America Outlet Mall in Iowa, among many others.
