Southwest Louisiana Healthcare
Eighteen area hospitals, as well as the Calcasieu Parish Health Unit, are located in Southwest Louisiana, providing approximately 1,200 beds. Over 300 physicians practice in the community, with a number of dentists, oral surgeons and orthodontists supplementing that number. The Emergency Medical Service of Southwest Louisiana trains EMTs and paramedics. A "911" emergency number, radio communication service with hospital emergency rooms and ambulance services through auto, helicopter and jet transport have been established to serve the community.
