In the five-parish area covered by the Chamber Southwest Louisiana, including Allen, Beauregard, Calcasieu, Cameron and Jefferson Davis, the large professional service industry includes attorneys who handle legal services for individuals and for businesses of every size. The practice of law in Southwest Louisiana frequently involves Louisiana’s unique body of civil law, in context with federal law and uniform commercial law, although Louisiana has not adopted the entirety of the Uniform Commercial Code. According to the registration of members of the Southwest Louisiana Bar Association, more than 500 attorneys practice in this area.
