Situated at the crossroads of State Highway 190 West and Interstate 49 North/South, and in proximity to Interstate 10, Opelousas’ location is among one of its greatest features.

Additional arteries winding through the area include U.S. Highways 167 and 190 and State Highways 31, 182, 357 and 749. St. Landry County encompasses more than 900 miles of roadway, making travel in and out of the area quick and efficient.

Twelve municipalities are situated within St. Landry Parish, which is geographically the largest parish in the state:

ST. LANDRY PARISH AIRPORT
This airport, found in Opelousas, is parish-owned and features three lighted runways extending from 4,200 feet up to 6,000 feet.

PORT OF KROTZ SPRINGS
Located in Krotz Springs, within St. Landry Parish, the Port of Krotz Springs has a general cargo T-Dock spanning 145 feet wide and extending 220 feet into the Atchafalaya River with a 25-foot wide roadway. The river is maintained at a depth of 12 feet by the U.S. Army Crops of Engineers. The port channel is approximately 1,000 feet wide, providing ample clearances for anchorage and fleeting. Six docks are operated here, a site where oil and grain products are handled - more than 2.8 million tons of cargo (liquid and dry bulk). Businesses operating in the port employ more than 270 workers.
