Gorham is located only 10 miles inland from Maine’s rocky coast and Portland, Maine’s largest city, putting it in close proximity to the state’s major business and recreational areas. Sandy ocean beaches, mountains and lakes are all within a short drive. Its location near the growing economic center of Portland gives Gorham a unique business climate that is ideally situated for future commercial and industrial development.

Its ideal location also puts Gorham easily accessible to a wealth of transportation resources. A network of state highways, including Routes 22, 25, 114, 202 and 237, crisscross inside town or just outside of town.

This roadway system is currently being studied as residential and business development has resulted in more traffic. Plans are being formed to ease congestion.

Gorham’s proximity to Portland gives the town access to Portland International Jetport, which is only 10 miles from Gorham. Only eight miles from Gorham is the Port of Portland, providing wharf space and harbor access. These facilities allow Gorham to be a part of the economic markets of North America and of the world.
