During the last 10 years, with the expansion of business and population, the housing market has grown dramatically without affecting the quality or availability of housing. Homes in the center of town are always well maintained on smaller lots creating a village like atmosphere. Traditional suburban developments make up the surrounding neighborhoods outside of downtown, and more rural sites make up the outlying sections of town.

With the increase in Gorham as a business center, many people who have jobs in Gorham have chosen to find housing in the smaller towns nearby.

In some of these communities housing can be found at an even more affordable price with only a short commute to work in Gorham.
