Gorham is home to an outstanding public school system offering innovative academic and athletic programs. Gorham’s school system is affiliated with the Authentic Teaching, Learning and Assessment for All Students (ATLAS) Communities Project. The goal of this project is to reform how schools are run so that they are dedicated to the highest achievement for all students. The Gorham schools share a partnership with Harvard, Brown and Yale Universities in this endeavor.

The Gorham Center for Volunteers and Community Education (GCVCE) offers opportunities for adults to complete their high school education, prepare for college, learn new job skills and explore new ideas and activities that will enrich their lives. Gorham also has three library branches that provide educational resources for all ages.

A campus of the University of Southern Maine makes its home in Gorham. It is a comprehensive regional university, offering a full range of high quality educational programs. USM’s School of Applied Science is one of the school’s strongest programs and the Department of External Programs was specifically designed to link university education with the business world. USM provides the town with all of its educational resources as well as access to the enjoyment of its cultural and athletic activities.
