Gorham’s location near the Atlantic coast makes it an ideal site for businesses looking to focus on either the North American market or the expanding world market. Gorham also benefits from being near Portland’s economic center, which continues to expand westward resulting in increased population and development. With its large labor force and diverse employment base, Gorham is an excellent location for future commercial and industrial development.

Gorham’s economy is dominated by its service sector that has been growing steadily since the early 1990s. This has resulted in Gorham becoming a unique employment center outside of the major Portland employment center. Residents from surrounding communities fill more than half of the jobs in Gorham.
