Kennebec River

Maine’s capital city, an original 1627 Pilgrim settlement, embraces the powerful Kennebec River, along with 22 other small cities and towns comprising the Kennebec Valley Chamber of Commerce region. Augusta is both the capital city of the Pine Tree State and the service center of a micropolitan with 70,000 residents and a workforce of 45,000 people.

Maine’s government center is rich in history, culture, educational resources, industry, innovation and art – with outstanding shopping opportunities. This booklet offers a sampling of the attractions and lifestyle which make the Capital Area a perfect place to live, work and rear a family – and visit.
