It is more convenient than ever to get to Old Orchard Beach with The Downeaster (Amtrak) Train Service stopping just steps from the Beach six times daily from May 1 - October 31. The trains travel from Boston to the Beach on their route to Portland, stopping right next to our new Chamber Welcome Center. The town has plans drawn for a new community recreation center and the renovation of our existing Memorial Park.
The many changes have made for a very positive effect to Old Orchard Beach and its community. The American family has rediscovered our seaside community. Our motel and hotel rooms, quaint inns, B&Bs and campgrounds cater to every imaginable taste. Our dining establishments include award winning pizza and pier fries, cotton candy and caramel corn, family style and even five-star dining.
Old Orchard Beach is a community in which residents and tourists alike may take full advantage of a restful day on our seven-mile stretch of wide-open beach. Enjoy any of the dozens of rides and arcade games at Palace Playland, our seaside amusement park. Funtown/Splashtown USA is home to one of the largest wooden roller coasters in the country as well as a giant waterpark. In addition, the Chamber of Commerce provides a series of year-round events for residents and tourists alike to enjoy.
If one is looking for the "quieter side" of Old Orchard Beach, try camping, hiking or biking in our nearby state park, canoeing and bird watching in the saltwater marsh nature center area of Scarborough/Pine Point. There are few experiences that can compare to the peacefulness and privacy of strolling the sands of Old Orchard Beach looking for seashells.
