Location & Transportation

graphicSkowhegan is located at the crossroads of U.S. Route 2 and Route 201, 40 miles north of Augusta. Route 2 is Maine’s primary east/west highway, and connects the region to Northern New England and New York. Route 2 also leads outdoor adventurers to beautiful Lake George Regional Park, just a few miles to the east. Route 201 is a major north/south highway through the state up to Quebec. Route 201 serves as a conduit for forest products from the north, and is designated as a National Scenic Highway from nearby Solon up to the Canadian border.graphic

Route 150, which begins in Skowhegan, is an entryway into Maine’s North Woods and a popular route for tourists and outdoor adventurers.

Access to the World

Only 60 miles from Bangor and 90 miles from Portland, Skowhegan is within easy driving distance from international airports in both cities, providing direct access to air travel throughout the U.S. and abroad. In addition, four regional airports serve the area, including Central Maine Regional Airport (just 10 miles away) in Norridgewock. Pittsfield Aviation in Pittsfield and LaFleur airport in Waterville are both within 20 miles, and Newton Airport in Jackman is a duty-free port 70 miles to the north.

graphicTrain service is available through Maine Central Railroad’s intermodile transfer station in Waterville.

And while many people come to Maine to "get away," they still have instant access to the rest of the world through modern telecommunication links.
