Welcome to the Yorks

The Yorks are a wonderful playground in all seasons! Families will find the long silvery stretches of sandy beach a picture-perfect place to explore. Para-sailing, cross-country skiing, horseback riding, kayaking, hiking and biking offer great entertainment as well as exercise for people of all ages. For the less adventurous, our cozy inns and restaurants, boutiques, specialty and antique shops are delightful places to while away the hours of pure relaxation; and don’t forget to patronize our incredible summer stock theatres and museums!

Summer is a time to slow down and relax. This is especially true for those of us who are here year round. Because of the vitality within our community and our appreciation of the beauty within its borders, visitors frequently comment on the friendliness they find here. It’s easy to feel happy when you awake to a magnificent sunrise, or when you experience the chaotic rapture of a flock of seagulls whirling around a child sharing bread crusts with them. It is the simple beauty of the beach and the spirit of the people which make being here so special — in every season!

So, welcome to the Yorks! We hope you’ll return again and again, as many families have done for generations. There’s something unique to find in the Yorks all throughout the year — summer, fall, winter and spring! While you’re here, stop by our Visitors Center at the crossroads of Route One and I-95. We have lots of brochures, maps and information to share with you. We can even help you find the perfect overnight accommodations, plan your wedding or anniversary party, or help you find just the right cottage for your summer visit.
