Salisbury Community Overview

Salisbury Area Sign

The city of Salisbury, Maryland, established in 1732, continues to be a progressive force in Wicomico County while holding tight to its rural style of living. Salisbury stands as the second largest river port in Maryland and is equipped with the second largest airport in the state as well. The city’s ideal location at the intersection of Highway 50 and Highway 13 has made it a significant site of regional transportation. Serving as the county seat of Wicomico County, Salisbury is the hub of both state and federal government services for the lower section of Delmarva Peninsula.

The city encompasses top-rate healthcare, excellent educational opportunities and a strong local economy, providing a high quality of life for residents. Salisbury’s recreational facilities are abounding. The city is comprised of 62 parks, 34 nature trails, several golf courses, more than 75 tennis courts and ball fields, and 44 basketball courts. As a seaside community, Chesapeake Bay affords 14 boat ramps and six marinas. All of this and more make the city of Salisbury second to none in the state of Maryland.
