Progressive Thinkers

Settled in 1638, Maynard was built on hard work and progressive thinking. Grist and sawmills emerged as the first industries in the early 1700s and gave way to paper and powder mills in the 1800s. Wool eventually became the leading industry of Maynard generating revenue and spurring significant growth of the town. Today, Maynard’s vibrant downtown hosts many high-tech industries at Clock Tower Place, as well as unique shops and eateries.

Maynard has grown into a town of 10,433 residents. It is centrally located between the cities of Boston and Worcester and within close proximity to five state parks and several ski areas.
