graphicThe town of Billerica, with a tax rate of $12.43 per $1,000 for residential and $26.67 per $1,000 for commercial/industrial, is located in Middlesex County in the state of Massachusetts and has a Town Meeting form of government, with an elected five member Board of Selectmen and a Town Manager. Municipal services are provided through a number of departments and commissions, including the Planning Board (978-671-0962), Board of Appeals (978-671-0964), Building Department (978-671-0959), and Conservation Commission (978-671-0966) to name a few. Thanks to the efforts of the Recycling Committee, recycling is available on a weekly basis through BFI, the town’s trash collection service.

Free access to information, materials and services for all residents is provided by the Billerica Public Library, which strives to stimulate ideas, promote and facilitate literacy in all forms, advance knowledge, and encourage lifelong learning. Due to the increasingly aging population, the Council on Aging is an agency in demand. Their services include weekly and monthly health testing such as diabetes and cholesterol - games, dancing, arts and crafts - stress and weight management and relaxation - nutrition counseling - workshops - respite/companion care - etc. Contact the Council at 978-671-0916.

graphicSince September 11th, more attention has been focused on veterans from all wars. The Department of Veteran Services provides financial and/or medical assistance, applies for benefits from a variety of agencies and organizations as well as utilizes assistance from existing programs for eligible veterans, widows and, or dependents of veterans.
