graphicgraphicIf you love antiques, you’ll love the Taunton area, which, in addition to boasting dozens of small shops, is also home to the Taunton Antique Center. It is one of the biggest antique shops in all of New England and is located in a magnificent old downtown building that features three sprawling floors full of old-time treasures. For more modern shopping, there is the Silver City Galleria, one of the area’s biggest malls with more than 150 stores on two levels. It also features a multi-screen movie theater and a huge food court. In addition to numerous strip malls offering a variety of shopping, there are also new "big box" stores such as Home Depot and Target, and in Raynham, along with Wal-Mart and a variety of commercial enterprises, there is the locally famous "auto mile," a stretch of Route 44 that is home to several automobile dealerships. graphicNot far from Taunton is the Wrentham Village Premium Outlets, a collection of more than 100 stores featuring discounts on name-brand merchandise, and the Providence Place Mall, with its five levels of shopping and fantastic views of downtown Providence. Additionally, for bargain hunters, the area is home to two of New England’s biggest and best flea markets, the Taunton Expo Center and the Raynham Flea Market.

There is no shortage of fine dining establishments in the Taunton area, from the grace and elegance of Benjamin’s Restaurant in Taunton, to the smaller mom-and-pop style eateries that exude a casual down-home atmosphere. graphicWith just a short drive to either Providence or Boston, diners will find world-class restaurants, including some with four-star designations.
