Location and Transportation

The Clarkston area, comprised of the City of the Village of Clarkston, and Independence and Springfield townships, sits on the southeastern side of Michigan’s lower Peninsula and is a growing residential community located in northern Oakland County, some 42 miles northwest of Detroit.

Situated in a rural atmosphere, the community is surrounded by thousands of acres of rolling hills, lakes, woodlands, farms and quiet country roads and marshes. The Clarkston Area is within reach of several major highways: three exits off I-75, and close to M-59 and 23. The M-15 Recreational Heritage Route begins in Clarkston and runs to Bay City.

It is a 50-minute drive to Detroit, 20 minutes to Flint and slightly over an hour to Port Huron or Lansing.

The closest airports include Bishop International Airport, Flint; Oakland County International Airport, offering general aviation services to a number of fortune 500 companies; and Detroit Metropolitan airport.

Three Amtrak stations are located within 15 miles.
