The
Mason Area Chamber of Commerce, an organization of Mason area business
leaders, is a proud partner in promoting the Mason area as a great place
to live, work and do business. The team of Chamber members promote community
pride, increase an awareness of the community and promote economic growth.
Several community events designed to bring people into the community
are sponsored by the Chamber each year. The popular 5k Run which attracts
1,000 participants is held in the spring, the Spring Fling and Down
Home Days arts and crafts shows in the spring and fall attract many
people, the July 4 Celebration with mid-Michigan's only evening parade
is a great family-oriented event and the Christmas Tree Lighting and
Caroling Party the day after Thanksgiving is enjoyed by all ages. The
Chamber is the front door to the community, providing information to
residents and visitors. As a voice for business, the Chamber promotes
the Mason area as a place for business development and expansion.

The City of Mason and the surrounding townships of Alaiedon, Aurelius
and Vevay provide a quiet, clean and safe setting with a feeling of
community and pride. From the historic Courthouse and turn-of-the-century
buildings in downtown Mason to the many family-owned centennial farms
in the surrounding townships, the Mason area enjoys a strong sense of
history. With a convenient location just 12 miles south of Lansing,
the State capital, Mason is removed from but yet close enough to the
urban area of Lansing, East lansing and Michigan State University. Be
a part of this community where people value our history, care for today
and look ahead to the future.

Mason
is closely connected to urban cultural, commercial and industrial diversity
through a system of Interstate, state, county and local roads. Interstate
96 is 7 miles north of Mason and Interstate 94 is 20 miles south of
Mason. Capital City Airport, 20 miles north of Mason can take a traveler
any place in the world. The Mason-Jewett Airport in Vevay Township offers
charter service for passengers and freight and is one of the largest
private aviation schools in Michigan. Bergeon Field in Aurelius Township
offers services for small, private aircraft.

From agriculture to manufacturing, the Mason area has
a wide variety of industry that contributes to the world's economy.
The Mason area's agriculture heritage is strongly represented by family
farms which produce dairy products and crops of corn, wheat, alfalfa
and soybeans. Dart Container Corporation, an international company producing
polystyrene products for the food service industry, has its world headquarters
in Mason and is the Mason area's largest employer. Many other industries
have discovered that the Mason area is their place to be for new development
and business expansion. Mason area industries benefit from quick and
easy access to two Interstate highways, a rail line connecting to the
country's railroad system, Mason-Jewett Airport which offers charter
service and Capital City Airport located 20 miles north of Mason and
offering connections to major domestic and international passenger and
air freight services.
