Rich in historic lore and beautiful Victorian buildings, Clinton County has more than 60 sites registered with the Clinton County Historical Society, most of which were built between 1857 and 1900. Clinton County is rich and varied in agricultural area. Nearly 90% of the farm land is classified as prime growing soil. Spearmint and peppermint are unique to Clinton County, ranking first in Michigans mint production averaging 12,000 acres. Additionally, Clinton County farms have produced many state-wide records in the production of cattle, sheep, hogs, soybeans, corn and milk. Each year, during the second full weekend of August, St. Johns celebrates their famous "Mint Festival" which is showcased to more than 80,000 guests. The City Park and Clinton County Fairgrounds are filled with Arts & Crafts, an Open Air Flea Market Emporium, a Grand Mint Parade, sporting tournaments for any age and a Championship Rodeo.
