The Chamber was founded in 1881, making it more than 125 years old. The Chamber has undergone five name changes over that period, and has been a countywide Chamber of Commerce for more than 25 years.
Previous names for the organization included the Albert Lea Board of Trade (1879 – 1892), the Albert Lea Commercial Club (1892 – 1907), the Albert Lea Men’s Club (1907 – 1930), the Albert Lea Chamber of Commerce (1930 – 1980), and the Albert Lea-Freeborn County Chamber of Commerce, now representing business and professionals throughout the county.
One thing has never changed — the Chamber’s never ending mission — “to promote and develop a healthy and positive business climate and improve the quality of life in the Albert Lea-Freeborn County Area.”
