Albert Lea area schools provide a high quality public educational program for all learners from birth through senior citizens. Four elementary schools serve students K-6 with science-based reading and math programs. All students receive quality art, music, and physical education from specialists.

Southwest Middle School students in grades 7-8 are divided into four teams to increase the personalized learning atmosphere. All students have access to several electives each year. At Albert Lea High School, students in grades 9-12 have a diverse set of electives as well as all the state standards on a block schedule. An Area Learning Center, Community Education including GED, family literacy, early childhood and youth development programs, and a full continuum of special education services PK-12 help all students reach their highest academic potential. Modern facilities, highly trained teachers, quality technology support, and diverse extra curricular programs from the arts to athletics give students the preparation they need for their futures.

The district is an arts partner school with the Perpich Center for Arts Education, providing students and teachers K-12 with an unusually rich variety of local and statewide arts opportunities. Parent involvement is available through parent organizations at every level.
