The Chisago Lakes Area is home to a vibrant cultural community. Festivals celebrating holidays, heritage and artisans are countless ways to experience the arts and culture of the area.
Eichten’s Cheese & Bison Farm – Eichten’s farm is an all natural artisan cheese company, established in 1976 as a family farm business. Specializing in a true Dutch Gouda, they also make a variety of other European style cheeses. The Bison Ranch has about 350 head of American Plains Bison, raised on native pasture grasses, hay, oats and corn silage. All products are farm fresh with no additives or preservatives.
Festival Theatre – Housed in a historic vaudeville playhouse in St. Croix Falls, Festival Theatre presents a year-round series of professional plays, concerts and special events.
Franconia Sculpture Park – The 20-acre Franconia Sculpture Park houses a collection of innovative and unique sculptures by local, national and international artists. In total, the park features a rotating collection of more than 85 contemporary sculptures and hosts a range of programs and events, including a 3D Concert Series, artist-led tours and the Fall Art & Artists Celebration.
Gammelgarden Museum – Gammelgarden means ‘old farm’ in Swedish. Visitors can step back in time and experience history. Historic buildings have been carefully preserved and restored on this 11-acre site. Get a glimpse of the daily lives of the immigrants and participate in events to learn more about the culture and times of the Swedish immigrants.
Gustaf’s Galleries – Visitors will find collections of original fine art, fine art crafts and unique gifts. Over 6,000 square feet of gallery space, representing professional regional artists from the opper Midwest including media in: oils, watercolors, mixed media, photography, hand-pulled prints, sculpture, pottery, glass, wood and jewelry.
Pleasant Valley Orchard – Overlooking the scenic St. Croix Valley the orchard offers a fun family experience. Enjoy the charm of a vintage barn while hunting for Minnesota grown apples and strawberries, you will also find an amazing array of pumpkins, bakery and gift items. Orchard activities include pick-your-own weekends, hayrides, farm animals, kid’s corral and a nature trail.
Shafer Corn Maze – Hosted at a family dairy farm, the Shafer Corn Maze is comprised of four miles of pathways cut into 12 acres of corn. Exciting kids activities are planned inside and outside the maze, while the farm provides opportunities to enjoy a petting zoo, corn bag toss, haunted maze and an October pumpkin patch.
Sven’s Clogs – Established in 1974, Sven Clogs has thrived on making the highest-quality footwear with the finest leather and wooden soles from around the world. They make the traditional Swedish clog design as well as clog sandals and boots in a variety of heels. Along with Sven’s unique Swedish styles they offer the customer the ability to create their own design. You will often see Sven’s Clogs featured in fashion magazines.
WineHaven Winery and Vineyard – Family owned and operated, the Chisago City-based WineHaven Winery and Vineyard is consistently ranked among the top award-winning wineries in the upper Midwest. In addition to the delicious wines, WineHaven also produces various flavors of honey. Guests are invited to visit the tasting room, gift shop and participate in many annual events.
