Like everything in Northeast, the Northeast Minneapolis Chamber of Commerce has a rich tradition. The organization was established in 1953 as the Central Avenue Commercial Association, with the mission to promote commercial, social, economic and civic interests in its neighborhood. By 1993,
the organization expanded its reach to include businesses throughout Northeast Minneapolis, thus changing its name to the North East Business Association (NEBA). In 2002, the organization became the Northeast Minneapolis Chamber of Commerce to better reflect its role in the community.

The Chamber maintains an unwavering commitment to serving its members. By building relationships with businesses, community organizations and residents, the Chamber is making Northeast a better place to live and work. Member benefits include organized networking events, educational opportunities, publicity efforts, updates on issues affecting the community, and access to marketing and advertising resources.

Some of the Chamber’s most visible programs include the award-winning WEED IT AND REAP, an organized clean-up event that happens every April and October at sites throughout Northeast; Celebrate Northeast Parade; an annual summertime event celebrating our community; and educational programs such as finance seminars and workshops.

In 2003, the Chamber built upon its services by launching three new areas of focus: space, government, and finance. The Chamber will act as a resource for helping businesses locate available space and property. In the area of government, the Chamber links its members to their representatives at City Hall and beyond. The Chamber provides finance services by counseling its members on funding resources
for upstarts and expansion projects.
