The town of Osseo, (population of 2,743), is located in northeastern Hennepin County, and recently celebrated its 125th anniversary. The city is mentioned in Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s poem "The Song of Hiawatha." Osseo has a retail community that centers around the town’s refurbished Main Street.

Osseo’s citizens turn out in large numbers the weekend after Labor Day to celebrate Lions Roar Days, which features a craft fair, carnival, food vendors and a parade down Main Street. In addition, Early Settlers Day is held in late July to celebrate the founders of the Osseo area. Sipes Park in southeast Osseo has a ball field, tennis courts and playground equipment. An ice skating rink is maintained over the winter. Boerboom Veterans Memorial Park, across from city hall, is the site for several "Concerts in the Park" over the summer months.

Churches in the area include, Church of the Nazarene, Osseo United Methodist Church, Saint Paul’s Lutheran, St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, and Advent Lutheran Church.
