In White Bear Lake, the wonder of learning takes place not only in the classroom, but also through a variety of cultural and educational opportunities in the community. Since 1996, the White Bear Center for the Arts, located in the upper level of the Armory in White Bear Lake, has scheduled drawing, painting, sculpting, fiber art, wood-carving, performing arts, and foreign language classes. Both children and adults sign up to learn more about the visual, theatrical, and literary arts. The Center also sponsors the Northern Lights Show, which includes writing contests and musical concerts in addition to the yearly judged art show that represents over 150 artists.

Since the mid-1950s, the Lakeshore Players have entertained local audiences. Actors stage three plays each season at the group's theater, located in White Bear Lake at Sixth and Stewart Streets. And, of course, the Twin Cities' major theatre, symphony, and art venues are just a short drive away. The metropolitan area is home to the Minneapolis Institute of Art, the Walker Art Center, the Tyrone Guthrie Theater, and the Minnesota Symphony and St. Paul Chamber Orchestras.
