


Various arts and entertainment venues can be found within the Winona community, from beautiful stained glass studios and several theater companies to activities to enjoy on the Mississippi River.
The city has a number of stained glass studios, with tours available through Visit Winona. Cathedral Crafts works nationally by providing exquisite leaded stained glass projects and Willet Hauser Architectural Glass, Inc. hails as the world’s largest stained glass studio.
Additional displays of unique art can be seen at the Minnesota Marine Art Museum in Winona. This extensive museum opened in July of 2006 and offers patrons three galleries filled with an array of marine art and objects. The museum displays several exhibits, notably the Burrichter-Kierlin Marine Art Collection and the Leo and Marilyn Smith Folk Art Collection.
A host of venues in Winona provide concerts, theater, films, gallery space, speakers and much more — the Winona Arts Center, the Theatre du Mississippi, Gilmore Creek Summer Theater, both Winona State University and Saint Mary’s University, and the Frozen River Film Festival. The Winona State University Performing Arts Center Theatre welcomes the Great River Shakespeare Festival theater company, dedicating each summer season to presenting Shakespeare’s best works.

Beyond the theater, the Great River Shakespeare Festival Company offers discussions, educational programs and much more for the thousands of fans traveling from across the Midwest and elsewhere.
For the classical music lover, the Minnesota Beethoven Festival is the ticket! The main mission of the festival is “to increase appreciation of classical music and the work of Ludwig von Beethoven through education and the presentation of nationally and internationally recognized artists.” This premiere summer music festival is filled with high-caliber performances and activities for people of all ages.
Mississippi River Cruises aboard the Julia Belle Swain offers entertainment for a day, night or weekend getaway. The cruise line offers overnight cruises from La Crosse to Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin and Winona, local cruises for lunch and dinner trips and charters for private parties.
