Covington Countians take great pride in their homes, whether circa 1890s or contemporary, and have a natural tendency to uphold the open door policy, as handed down from past generations. The southern front porch, where the indoors meets the outdoors, seems to extend a welcome to family and friends to come sit and watch the world go by. Of course, the veranda can also be a place of peace and solitude where you can idle quietly with thoughts or a good book. At any rate, “porching,” or the practice of sitting on the porch in the evenings and socializing, doesn’t get any better than here in Covington County.
