The 2009 Annual Chamber Banquet’s theme was Madison’s Magical Mystery Night, and what a magical evening it was! As we begin 2010, and a new year for our chamber and city, we are optimistic we will have another magical year. It’s amazing the progress we are continuing to make in the City of Madison, and I believe 2010 will be even more progressive for us.
The people who know me well will tell you that I am a very optimistic individual, but I will admit that, in today’s world, optimism can be difficult at times. But, from all indications, the future is bright for Madison the City.

We have many things to look forward to in 2010. In 2010, Tulane University will be locating a campus in our very own Madison the City. In addition to Tulane locating here, we hope that we can celebrate the approval of the Certificate of Need for St. Dominic’s Hospital to locate in Madison as well. With their plans to build at $121.6 million hospital, which will bring 350 plus jobs and result in an annual payroll of salary and benefits of over $8°© million, it will play a major impact on Madison’s economy.
In addition to new businesses locating to Madison this year, our Chamber headquarters will be relocating to our new home in the old church on Main Street. The church has been completely renovated and beautifully landscaped. This location will also act as a Welcome Center for our city. Our new home will give us much more visibility and will enable us to do a better job of promoting our wonderful city.
Our Madison the City Chamber is definitely one that has captured the attention of people across the country, as well as neighboring cities, as a group that offers true value and service to its members. We truly help our businesses succeed. It is our mission and goal to help our members do more business. From PowerPak members to our individual memberships, all members will have opportunities throughout the year to be in the spotlight of many events, to make contacts and presentations, which are necessary in today’s business world. The amount of impression opportunities offered to Chamber members each year is enormous as we host or sponsor events close to a weekly basis.
Madison has it all! Everything you need, you can find right here in Madison. Your Chamber of Commerce will strive to continue to promote the concept of doing business in Madison. I look forward to serving as your President this year. It is an honor to be a part of such a fine group of folks as those involved with Madison’s chamber. We should all be proud to call Madison home.
I believe in Magic, and I believe in Madison!
