Madison offers excellent educational facilities at the elementary, middle school, high school and university level. Area public and private schools continue to perform above the national average.
The six public schools within the Madison Attendance Zone serve approximately 6,200 students and are the highest achieving within the Madison County School District. They excel in academics, athletics and the arts.
Each school—Madison Avenue Elementary, Madison Station Elementary, Madison Crossing Elementary, Madison Crossing Middle, Madison Middle and Rosa Scott Ninth Grade—has its own unique personality, but all boast some of the highest test scores in the state and serve as models for successfully integrating the arts into all aspects of the curriculum.

All of these schools feed into one high school, Madison Central, where excellence and achievement have culminated in a 23.2 average ACT score; 28 National Merit Scholars, the highest number of any public high school within the state; more than $15 million in state scholarship offerings and recognition by a national magazine as one of the “Top High Schools in the Nation.”
In September 2009, the voters of Madison County overwhelmingly passed a bond issue, which included construction of a new high school in the Gluckstadt area north of Madison and is scheduled to open in the fall of 2011. Until then, schools in that feeder pattern—Madison Crossing Elementary, Mannsdale Elementary and Germantown Middle—will continue to attend Rosa Scott and Madison Central HS.
Educating the mind, body and spirit is the mission statement of Madison Ridgeland Academy (MRA). This mission is reflected in challenging academic offerings resulting in a 23.4 ACT average, a commitment to spiritual growth accomplished through a Christian emphasis in grades K3 through 12 and a championship athletic tradition emphasizing teamwork and sportsmanship. Now the second largest school in the Mississippi Association of Independent Schools, MRA remains committed to maintaining excellent student/teacher ratios (14:1 in preschool and 18:1 in grades 1-12) while providing students with a personalized college preparatory curriculum in state-of-the-art facilities.
St. Joseph Catholic School offers an excellent educational opportunity in a competitive college preparatory environment for students in grades 7 through 12. The school’s mission stresses excellence in academics, spiritual values and a well-rounded program that encourages students to develop their full potential. The average ACT score is 25.1, which is well above the national average. The curriculum is varied, challenging and emphasizes core courses as well as advanced placement and honors courses. In addition to academic excellence, students are encouraged to be motivated and constructive members of the church and community through a required Gospel Service Program.

Tulane’s primary campus is located in New Orleans, LA. This will be Madison’s first university campus. Tulane Madison (initial building) will be located at the corner of Highway 51 and Main Street.
