Welcome from the Chairman

Welcome to my home, Oxford, Mississippi.

On behalf of our Staff, Board and Membership, allow me to welcome you to our home! Collectively known as the “L-O-U,” the citizens of Lafayette County, the City of Oxford and the University of Mississippi are all part of a community that is marked by gracious hospitality and an exceptional standard of living.

My husband and I chose this area 14 years ago because it afforded us the opportunity to raise our girls in an area with some of the best schools in the state and access to outstanding healthcare. We work, live and play among a thriving business community, affordable housing and one of the richest cultural and recreational areas in the South.

This year we are fortunate to have visitors from around the world experience L-O-U when the University of Mississippi hosts the first presidential debate of 2008. This historic event is yet another example of the University’s commitment to excellence in higher education and the support of a community filled with the best in shopping, dining, sports and culture.

This Community Guide and Membership Directory will provide you with all of the information you need to get acquainted with the area, and we have included a Buyer’s Guide that can assist you with a specific search.
